Investment ISA Advice in Essex and London

Investment ISAs are different to Cash ISAs; a Cash ISA is simply a savings account where you deposit money up to an annual limit and the interest earned on these savings aren’t taxed.

An Investment ISA (also known as a Stocks and Shares ISA) is different as you can invest in funds, bonds and shares in companies.

Investment ISAs may be considered riskier than a Cash ISA, however with a good management team, such as our team at French and Associates looking after your investment, the returns can be much greater.

The advantages of an Investment ISA are:

  • No tax to be paid on profit from shares i.e. so if you sell a share for more than you bought it for you pay no tax on the profit
  • If you earn interest from bonds this is not taxable so you keep it all
  • Any income you earn from shares and investments is capped at just 10% tax; whereas if you are a higher rate tax payer you could be looking at paying up to 37.5% tax.
The level of investment into a Stocks and Shares ISA for 2017/18 is £20,000. You can choose to:
  • Invest £20,000 into an Investment ISA or a Cash ISA or a combination of the two.
Remember that if you don’t invest the full amount into your ISAs each financial year than you cannot make additional investments the following year. So it really is a case of ‘use it or lose it.’
